New Poll Shows Strong Desire For Change
New Poll Shows Strong Desire For Change
We have some eye-opening new poll results to share!
We commissioned a survey from polling firm One Persuasion, showing that a significant majority - 68% of Regina voters - believe it's time for a new mayor.
There’s clear frustration with City Hall’s current direction, and many are ready for a change.
However, with the vote divided among several candidates, the path for a new mayoral candidate to win the election isn't straightforward.
Currently, 31% of decided voters plan to support incumbent Mayor Sandra Masters, while her closest competitor, Councillor Lori Bresciani, has 26% support.
The outcome of the election will hinge on whether voters who prefer the other candidates consolidate behind one candidate or remain split.
As for those other candidates, Chad Bachnyski has 17% support, Bill Pratt has 16%, and all others collectively have 11%.
Key issues driving voter dissatisfaction are high-profile projects like the Lawson Aquatic Centre rebuild and a proposed new downtown library, which are widely seen as wasteful.
Here are a few quick numbers from the poll:
- 65% of voters oppose the Lawson Aquatic Centre rebuild.
- 67% oppose tax increases to fund the downtown library.
- 67% are embarrassed by the "Experience Regina" rebranding mess, with many placing the blame on Mayor Masters.
With the election around the corner, it's clear Regina voters want a shift toward focusing on essential services and steering clear of costly projects that aren’t a priority for most residents.
As always, let’s keep common sense in mind as we approach election day.
