Campaign Roundup - Day 11:
- A recent poll we commissioned reveals that 68% of Regina voters want a new mayor. Incumbent Mayor Sandra Masters leads with 31% of decided voter support, closely followed by Councillor Lori Bresciani at 26%, while the remaining votes are split among other candidates. Key issues fueling dissatisfaction include opposition to costly projects like the Lawson Aquatic Centre rebuild and the downtown library, with 65% and 67% of voters opposing these initiatives, respectively.
- CKOM sent out a Q&A to each mayoral candidate, and have published Melina Bushenlonga’s answers. Bushenlonga says her top issues to address in her first 100 days in office would be dealing with wasted resources and inefficiencies, re-alignment of priorities through community engagement, and low-cost strategies to provide better stewardship of the community’s resources.
- Bevann Fox’s Q&A answers were also published. The top issues she identified were meeting and greeting with City Administration, learning the structure of the City’s internal administration, and collaboratively reviewing priorities and budgets.
- Lori Bresciani’s answers were published by CKOM as well. Her priorities include establishing a unified and informed Council by ensuring everyone is fully trained in governance rules and best practices, working collaboratively to develop a strategic vision and growth plan, and meeting with community leaders, business owners, Council members, and residents.
- CBC is hosting live election coverage on November 13th, as polls close and votes start being tallied. Coverage with Ethan Williams begins at 8:00 pm.
