Election 2024: Campaign Roundup - Day 5

Welcome to Day 5 of our Regina 2024 Campaign Roundup!

With the 2024 municipal election underway, we'll be bringing you daily updates on all the policy proclamations, platform promises, and political point-scoring from the campaign trail.

As always, our work is entirely funded by donations from residents just like you, so if you appreciate the updates, please consider making a one-off donation or signing up as a supporter for just $10 a month - that's just 36 cents per email!

Campaign Roundup - Day 5:

  • Advance polling stations are open from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm today through November 4th. A list of acceptable identification to bring with you to vote can be found online.

  • Regina's election is being fought amid a projected $2.4-million deficit that candidates must address. Former Mayor Michael Fougere highlighted the need for the new Council to decide collectively on its priorities, and said that deciding where to spend money is incredibly difficult.

  • CTV profiled the three candidates vying for the Ward 3 seat: Barry Wilkie, David Froh, and Faaiq Tanveer. Wilkie has years of business experience, Froh has a community-building background, and Tanveer has a background in finance.

  • Bob Pearce, known as "Dancing Bob," is running again for Mayor of Regina, aiming to promote transparency, affordable water, and infrastructure efficiency. Bob is known for his street dancing and says his focus will be on making people smile and addressing City issues.

  • Another mayoral candidate spoke about making people smile. Bill Pratt has been laying out his priorities on social media, and in today’s post, he suggested that by inspiring the best, “we create a city that makes us all smile”.
