Election 2024: Campaign Roundup - Day 3

Welcome to Day 3 of our Regina 2024 Campaign Roundup!

With the 2024 municipal election underway, we'll be bringing you daily updates on all the policy proclamations, platform promises, and political point-scoring from the campaign trail.

As always, our work is entirely funded by donations from residents just like you, so if you appreciate the updates, please consider making a one-off donation or signing up as a supporter for just $10 a month - that's just 36 cents per email!

Campaign Roundup - Day 3:

  • With the provincial election only just over (actually, there’s still some counting underway), we know that many of you are probably sick of politics right now. But municipal elections are important, so thank you for hanging in there for just two more weeks!

  • We’ve launched a “Back to Basics” campaign, featuring billboards, digital ads, and a petition signed by over 1,000 supporters. We aim to give residents the information they need to vote for a City Hall that prioritizes essential services. If you haven’t seen our billboards around town yet, you can see the designs online.

  • Nine of the 11 mayoral candidates took part in a televised debate. Chad Bachynski, Lori Bresciani, Melina Bushenlonga, Bevann Fox, Kevin Kardash, Sandra Masters, Bill Pratt, Shawn Sparvier and Rod Williams debated on public safety, affordable housing, and City improvements. If you missed the debate, you can watch it online here.

  • Sandra Masters is running for a second and final term as Regina’s Mayor, aiming to complete ongoing initiatives and maintain momentum. She said that she is trying to create change and hopes her rhythm doesn’t get interrupted. Masters stated that this bid would be her last, regardless of the election outcome.

  • CTV News profiled Ward 1, with 20,771 eligible voters. Four candidates are running to fill the seat of outgoing Councillor Cheryl Stadnichuk. Candidates include former MLA Joanne Crofford, University of Regina student Talha Khan, teacher and librarian Jessie Morris, and former CFL player Dan Rashovich.

  • Advance voting begins tomorrow and runs until November 4th. Polls are open from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. During advance voting, you can cast a ballot at any polling station. To locate a polling station, visit Elections Regina’s website here.
